(no subject)

So yesterday was Monday and therefore results day, on Sunday night I didn't sleep hardly at all - and I kept having weird half awake dream/nightmares, like I thought there was a huge spider on the roof over my head - my roof is all angular so it seemed pretty close to my face and I screamed and jumped out of bed and turned on the light, and there was no spider. Freaked me majorly out - Lillie had to come up and check my bed covers before I could get back in.

Okay so my results, I did okay - more then okay I went well. I got an 81.95!

Which is an awesome score - especially because its a score that is partly done by ranking, in my subjects I went pretty well, by the way for anyone who doesn't live in Victoria subjects each get a score out of 50 - the average mean is in the high 30's I think (ETA: [profile] xanya just imformed me that the average score is in the early 30s. go me!), for most subjects, 50 is almost impossible to get and to get anything in the 40s in very hard. Then an overall mark, a score out of 99.95 (100 is impossible to get, 99.95 is the prefect score) is calculated by some complicated method but simplified basically the four highest subject marks get added together somehow and 10% of the lowest subject mark to make a score out of 99.95. Confused? To add more confusion they have a scaling system - in which the raw scores out of 50 are changed by either marks added or take away to even out the playing field supposedly. Hard subjects like languages, sciences and histories get marked up while subjects such as Art, get marked down because they're considered easy (which by the way is total bullshit, my arts subjecst were some of my hardest - they required the most work) Most of my subjects got marked down which is a pain - Politics and Classics were the only ones that got marked up.

English: 36.02 (my raw score was 37, stupid scaling!)
Classics: 38.49 (I am so proud of this mark, not only was it the best out of my subjects after scaling but I got higher then my sister did when she did Classics - which sounds horrible but I don't care!)
Studio Arts: 35.22 (I got a raw score of 39! Which is one of the reason I'm annoyed at the scaling system though I'm so excited with this because on all formal assesments I got A+'s!
Political Studies: 35.21 (this was such a hard exam so this is an awesome score!)
Arts: 33.54 (Stupid scaling brought this one down too, I orginally got a 36)

I got my letter marks too, which is awesome, and I got four A+'s, nine A's and two B+'s, I'm so very excited about those! Anyhow so thats my results. Highschool is now offically and emotionaly over! Now I just have to wait for Uni selection which happens in Janurary. But thats agggges away so I'm living stress free!

Now I have to go face my doom with a driving lesson.

CONGRATULATIONS! *confetti falls* looks good to me even if it is confusing! :)

Hope your driving lesson went well!

Thank you! I'm so excited about my mark, now I can get into the course I want... hopefully! I even get confused and I lived it - they just try really, really hard to confuse us!

It went okay - I bossed around my driving instructor and all was good!

[identity profile] xanya.livejournal.com 2005-12-13 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, Twinness, I have such pride for you! SUCH PRIDE! I'm so glad we both got through all right and wheeeee.... life is good at the moment, isn't it?

I still find the whole scaling down thing to be INCREDIBLY stupid. Okay, I get scaling up (and I'm really glad we have it because that's how I did well, hehe) but to scale down? It just seems mean. By the by, the average for each subject is 30, so... you were way above the average in all your subjects. Wow, we have a really confusing system, don't we?

Anyway, yes, I'm very, very proud, especially of Classics because I totally get wanting to beat people. Thumbs up to you for doing it!

WE PASSED VCE AND WE DID IT WELL!!!

[identity profile] rosiew.livejournal.com 2005-12-13 10:36 am (UTC)(link)
WE ARE BOTH CHAMPIONS!! We so rock the VCE! Life is so awesome at the moment! We need to celebrate! I'm still fangirling you bytheway *fangirls*.

I hate it, like I could beat it with a stick - I won't tell you why here but its about the fuhrer (sp?) and her result and aren't I the paranoid one, its too open here though. I got scaled up for Politics and Classics which was nice but scaled down for English and Studio Arts - which was so very annoying because they're my favourite subjects! Above Average! I'm so very cool! your cooler though! Did you get your GAT results today - highly wacky!

I like beating people - it makes me feel good! *g*

WE DID AND WE ROCK!! NO ONE IS COOLER THEN US!

[identity profile] xanya.livejournal.com 2005-12-13 11:34 am (UTC)(link)
Ha! Yes, I feel very loved because you're fangirling me *preens*. Can't wait to see the paper tomorrow to see how other people went! And yes, celebration must be had. But not with alcohol.

Hmm... the Fuhrer (I think that's how you spell it) had her results scaled down? You are paranoid. Just like Cress. But I understand the sensitive nature of such things. Yeah, got my GAT results - got 47 so I think that's all right. I don't know what anyone else go, so I'm just assuming it wasn't too bad!

I like beating people too. I love John Renda! Sorry, disregard that comment please.

NO ONE IN THE WORLD IS COOLER THAN US! Well, except for Cuddy and CJ.

[identity profile] rosiew.livejournal.com 2005-12-13 11:41 am (UTC)(link)
I'm all excited and I'm going to frame the 50's for English because MY TWINNESS IS SO THE BESTEST AND SHE NEEDS TO BE FRAMED!! I'm was thinking celebrating with Tv/Movie... and chocolate. Chocolate must be had.

Very sensative nature - I'm not even supoosed to know. did you know supposingly is not a word? I didn;t until I was told I mingle english. I can't help it - I'm unique! I got okay for the Written Comm and the MAths/Science one - on point above the state mean for each but got 40 on the Social Science one - which is pretty cool considering I didn't try at all. I'm just cool taht way *g*

Beating people is fun - especially when violence is invovled. Who John Renda - inquiring minds need to know.

well tahst a given - no one is cooler then CJ and Cuddy, that why there our role models!

[identity profile] xanya.livejournal.com 2005-12-13 12:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll frame a lock of your hair! Or is that too creepy? Eh, I never know where to draw the line. I guess that's why I'm so good at the stalking. Anyway, yes, your plan sounds wonderful! We should organise it.

Ha, how do you know if you're not supposed to know? Hmm, it took me a few minutes to decide that, no, supposingly isn't a word. I stared at it for a while, though. It sounds good enough. I can't remember what I got for each of the sections, just that my overall mark was 47. There were some weird people at my school who both cared about the GAT and studied for it! Freaks.

Oooh, John Renda... the guy who made me get over Dean! But then I hadn't seen him since the Latin exam (a month ago now!) and resolved to put him out of my mind, and then I saw him yesterday and... good God, he's gorgeous. And he was looking at me a lot. Love him.

When we grow up, we have to be EXACTLY like them!

Rosiesun, I am so so happy for you, you know that right? You should be so proud that you've done so well, and you deserve to feel awesome and frolic and squee and be happy. YAY you!! CONGRATULATIONS!! And heh, you did such a good job trying to describe the VCE system - eek, I feel old because we didn't even get those scaled marks the point whatevers. We got the raw score and the scaled. But whatever. YAY!!

Yay for stress free living!

[identity profile] rosiew.livejournal.com 2005-12-13 10:42 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you! I do feel awesome, though some of my friends didn't do well and that was a bit upsetting. I've had to do it a couple of times to out of towners - though its still confusing, actually I don't think it couldn't be confusing! Was it better without scaled marks do you think?

*parties*

[identity profile] julester1.livejournal.com 2005-12-13 10:58 am (UTC)(link)
You know what, it's not long before VCE and results and all that are a distant memory, and your friends will bounce back. [except you know, for the tragics at uni who still talk about their marks years after they've graduated. It's sad]

Oh, we still had scaled marks, but not as precisely as you are given. I don't know how to feel, since really, who is to judge what is more difficult. I hated that a lot of arts were scaled down, even though I wasn't affected because I did all Science except for a language. And well, some of my scores were scaled ridiculously high and even I can acknowledge that is silly.

*crazy dance*

[identity profile] sweetness892.livejournal.com 2005-12-13 08:09 am (UTC)(link)
YAY! CONGRATS! *hugs* Someone else on my flist was a victim of scaling. I feel so bad for her. Scaling is bullshit.

Good luck with driving. I know it sucks, but you really can't be expected to bum rides off of people forever. Which also means, don't let your friends bum rides off of you. ;)

Sweetness

Thankyou! *hugs back* Scaling is bullshit, I dislike it but it does help some people and it did up two of my subjects scores a bit which was nice. But not so nice for Studio Arts.

Driving was okay, I did well I think and my driving instructor thinks I will pass my text. Maybe I could get a chauffeur to drive me around *g*
